Benefits of Driving a 2008 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Utility

The 2008 Land Rover's flagship Range Rover has few peers and stands as one of the most luxurious and off-road-capable sport utility vehicles at any price. A proven platform, powerful engine choices, and well-equipped interior combine to form one of the most attractive true trail warriors available.

What's new for 2008?

For 2008, Land Rover's Range Rover receives new leather dashboard trim. The entry-level HSE model now rides on revised seven-spoke alloy wheels, while the SC now features auto-dimming exterior mirrors. The optional cherry wood trim found on the SC in 2007 is no longer available.

Model Strengths

  • Off-road ability
  • acceleration (SC)
  • Terrain Response system
  • versatile ride
  • interior comfort.

Model Review

The 2008 Range Rover comes in two luxurious variants, the V8-powered HSE, with a 305-horsepower 4.4L engine, and the SC model, with its 400-horsepower 4.2L supercharged V8. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with Sport and CommandShift modes.

2008 Land Rover Range Rover: What's New

Source: The Car Connection

Last year saw the addition of a 272-horsepower (and 472-lb-ft of torque), 3.6-liter turbodiesel V-8 to the options list for the plush Land Rover Range Rover. The updates for the 2008 model are less substantial, but they do play their own part in climate change - mostly inside the capable sport-utility vehicle.

Inside the Range Rover, passengers now enjoy four-zone air conditioning. Rear-seat passengers now can control their own air temperatures and vents. Along with this system, Land Rover has added infrared-deflecting glass at the winshield and sides, so that the amount of heat transmitted into the vehicle is reduced. Land Rover says this allows the Range Rover to cool more quickly and more effectively.

Other changes to the substantial SUV include more stow space inside, and additional leather trim on the climate controls and the center console. Clients can now choose from seven woods to trim their Rovers - all from sustainable forests, the company notes - and a wooden gearshift knob now is available.

New interior and exterior colors have been added, and 20-inch polished alloy wheels are a new option.

Land Rover Certified Pre-Owned Warranty  help
Certified Pre-Owned Warranty
To be eligible for Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) status, vehicles generally must be recent models with relatively low mileage. CPO vehicles must also pass a detailed inspection, outlined by the manufacturer, which is measured by the number of inspected points.
Warranty coverage can vary from one manufacturer to the next. While most certified pre-owned programs transfer and extend the existing new car warranty terms, others offer a warranty that simply represents an additional year and mileage value. Always check with the manufacturer for the specific warranties they offer.
Common features and benefits of Certified Pre-Owned warranties include:
Age/Mileage Eligibility
To even be considered for certification, a car must be a recent model year and have limited mileage. The exact requirements are established by individual manufacturers.
Lease Term Certified
Some manufacturers offer certified pre-owned cars for lease. The length of the lease is often shorter than a new car lease, but it will cost you less.
Point Inspection
These inspections entail a comprehensive vehicle test to ensure that all parts are in excellent working order. The point inspection list is simply a numbered list of exactly what parts of the car are examined. While many inspections range from a 70- to 150-point checklist, most are very similar and are performed using strict guidelines. Ask your local dealer about specific details.
Return/Exchange Program
Some manufacturers offer a very limited return or exchange period. Find out if you will get the sales tax and licensing/registration fees back should you return or exchange the car.
Roadside Assistance
Most certified pre-owned programs offer free roadside service in case your car breaks down while still under warranty.
Special Financing
Reduced-rate loans are available through many certified pre-owned programs. Manufacturer-backed inspections and warranties help eliminate the risks involved with buying pre-owned, so buyers who qualify can take advantage of the great offers.
Transferable Warranty
When a new car warranty transfers with the certification of the car and remains eligible for the next owner, it is known as a transferable warranty. Once the original transferable warranty expires, an extended warranty takes effect.
Warranty Deductible
This is the amount for which you are responsible when repair work is performed under the warranty. Some manufacturers require a deductible while others don't, so always ask.

6-Year / 100,000-Mile Comprehensive Limited Warranty - calculated from the original in-service date and zero miles.
Age/Mileage Eligibility Less than 5-years old and less than 60,000 miles
Lease Term Certified Yes
Point Inspection 150-Point Inspection
Return/Exchange Program 3 day exchange
Roadside Assistance Yes
Special Financing Yes
Transferrable Warranty Yes
Warranty Deductible $0
