For 2009, the Infiniti G37 Sedan gets a 3.7L V6 engine that generates 328 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque paired to a seven-speed automatic transmission with manual mode in which Downshift Rev Matching and magnesium paddle shifters (with Sport Package) provide automated manual gear control. Another option is the six-speed manual transmission with upgraded sport-brake package, while a choice of all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive is also available. VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) technology for intake valves improves performance, emissions and fuel efficiency. EPA-estimated fuel efficiency is good for 18 mpg city/24 mpg hwy, while the Sport trim gets 17/26. Infiniti G37 Sedan safety features include an anti-lock braking system with brake assist, electronic brake force distribution, traction control, vehicle dynamic control, a tire pressure monitoring system, an advanced air bag system and front-seat active head restraints. Late in the model year, Infiniti added a convertible model to the G37 lineup.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performs independent crash testing of new vehicles and then assigns them a score based on their performance.
