2009 Jaguar XF Sedan

Summary

Provided by NADAguides.com

Brand-new for 2009, the Jaguar XF midsize luxury sport sedan introduces a dramatic new look to the lineup. Sporty yet elegant, its five passenger interior is crisp, contemporary and extraordinarily luxurious, as shown in Jaguar XF photos. Equipped with rear-wheel drive, the Luxury and Premium Luxury trim levels are powered by a 4.2L V8 engine that cranks out 300 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque mated to a six-speed automatic that can be shifted manually with steering-wheel-mounted paddles. The Supercharged trim level is motivated by a supercharged version of the V8 that puts out 420 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. Jaguar states the non-supercharged trim levels can do 0-60 in 6.2 seconds, but the Supercharged version can achieve 0-60 in 5.1 seconds. EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings are 16 mpg city/25 mpg hwy for the base V8, while the Supercharged V8 gets 15/23 mpg. Standard safety items on all trim levels include antilock disc brakes, stability control, active front head restraints, front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags, while the Supercharged also has a blind spot monitor. In addition to a long list of amenities, the Jaguar FX features a seven-inch color touch screen that controls most cabin functions.

Benefits of Driving a 2009 Jaguar XF Sedan

Jaguar's 2009 XF, with its sleek, coupe-like shape, sport-sedan performance, and stunning interior, competes very well with models such as the BMW 5-Series, Lexus GS 460, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. It also boasts higher-grade materials such as those available in more exclusive vehicles. And like other Jaguar models, the new XF also promises a uniquely British personality compared to other luxury cars.

What's new for 2009?

The all-new XF replaces the S-Type in Jaguar's 2009 lineup and takes a dramatic new design direction with a sportier focus.

Model Review

North American Jaguar XF models will get either a 300-horsepower, 4.2L V8 for 2009, or a supercharged 4.2L V8 worth 420 horsepower. With either engine, the XF has rapid acceleration on par with some of the fastest German sports sedans. According to Jaguar, the standard XF can accelerate to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds while the supercharged model can do it in just 5.1 seconds.

While the Jaguar XF might look somewhat bland in photographs, it's extremely handsome in the flesh. The shape is elegant, modern and smooth. Inside, there's more legroom, front and rear, than I remember in previous Jaguars. Plus, the touch-sensitive controls for lighting and the glove box, the heater vents that open and close automatically, and the unique dial that controls the automatic transmission are very cool. Under the hood is a brilliant, supercharged engine that can be switched from racy to luxurious by pressing a button on the center console. So many desirable touches make the XF far more attractive to own than the photos suggest. – Paul Hagger

The 2009 Jaguar XF Supercharged is the top-line trim of Jaguar's new sport sedan, and is powered by the 420-horsepower 4.2-liter supercharged V8 engine. The engine delivers massive torque at virtually any rpm, accompanied by a menacing whine familiar from other supercharged Jaguar models. With a stiff chassis, the XF Supercharged feels nimble and quick, with active suspension and 20-inch wheels and tires, and the driver can control all the power with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The interior is all about a modern but classically elegant design, with oak veneer and leather combined with electroluminescent gauges and a touch-screen interface to control navigation, climate control, audio system and other functions. High-tech features include a blind-spot monitoring system that warns the driver of another car lurking off a flank with a light in the outside mirror. – Mike Meredith

The new Jaguar XF Supercharged is a superb vehicle. There is so much to like about this car. The transmission is very quiet and refined. It has a smooth V8 that develops 420 horsepower. Driving the power to the ground are large, 20-inch rims outfitted with meaty 285 series rear tires. Inside the car, there is excellent craftsmanship in leather and wood, and there is a nice use of aluminum accents on the pop-up shift knob and door sills. As a car tipping the scales above the 2-ton mark, it is adept at hiding this weight during spirited driving. On the technology front, the XF is equipped with Bluetooth, a user-friendly navigation system and a nice blind-spot management feature in the mirrors, which is subtle and not obtrusive. The XF is a perfect fit for a driver who wants a sporty touring car with a luxurious interior. – Joe Chulick

Original Warranty  help
Original Warranty
An original warranty is the warranty associated with a vehicle when it is brand new. In addition to the original warranty, select items, like tires, are typically covered by respective manufacturers. Also, an act of Federal law sometimes provides protection for certain components, like emissions equipment.
The original warranty is often broken down into multiple sections, including:
Basic Warranty:
Typically covers everything except for parts that wear out through normal use of the vehicle. Examples of non-covered items are brake pads, wiper blades and filters.
Drivetrain Warranty:
This warranty covers items the basic warranty does not protect. Wear and tear items such as hoses will not be covered, but key items like the engine, transmission, drive axles and driveshaft often will be.
Roadside Assistance:
The level of service differs greatly with this warranty, but many manufacturers offer a toll-free number that helps provide assistance in case you run out of gas, get a flat tire or lock your keys in the car.
Corrosion Warranty:
This warranty focuses on protecting you from holes caused by rust or corrosion in your vehicle's sheet metal.
Please check the owner's manual, visit a local dealership or look at the manufacturer's website to learn more about the specifics of the warranties that apply to a vehicle.

Jaguar Certified Pre-Owned Warranty  help
Certified Pre-Owned Warranty
To be eligible for Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) status, vehicles generally must be recent models with relatively low mileage. CPO vehicles must also pass a detailed inspection, outlined by the manufacturer, which is measured by the number of inspected points.
Warranty coverage can vary from one manufacturer to the next. While most certified pre-owned programs transfer and extend the existing new car warranty terms, others offer a warranty that simply represents an additional year and mileage value. Always check with the manufacturer for the specific warranties they offer.
Common features and benefits of Certified Pre-Owned warranties include:
Age/Mileage Eligibility
To even be considered for certification, a car must be a recent model year and have limited mileage. The exact requirements are established by individual manufacturers.
Lease Term Certified
Some manufacturers offer certified pre-owned cars for lease. The length of the lease is often shorter than a new car lease, but it will cost you less.
Point Inspection
These inspections entail a comprehensive vehicle test to ensure that all parts are in excellent working order. The point inspection list is simply a numbered list of exactly what parts of the car are examined. While many inspections range from a 70- to 150-point checklist, most are very similar and are performed using strict guidelines. Ask your local dealer about specific details.
Return/Exchange Program
Some manufacturers offer a very limited return or exchange period. Find out if you will get the sales tax and licensing/registration fees back should you return or exchange the car.
Roadside Assistance
Most certified pre-owned programs offer free roadside service in case your car breaks down while still under warranty.
Special Financing
Reduced-rate loans are available through many certified pre-owned programs. Manufacturer-backed inspections and warranties help eliminate the risks involved with buying pre-owned, so buyers who qualify can take advantage of the great offers.
Transferable Warranty
When a new car warranty transfers with the certification of the car and remains eligible for the next owner, it is known as a transferable warranty. Once the original transferable warranty expires, an extended warranty takes effect.
Warranty Deductible
This is the amount for which you are responsible when repair work is performed under the warranty. Some manufacturers require a deductible while others don't, so always ask.

Terms include 6 year/ 100,000 mile limited warranty.
Age/Mileage Eligibility 5 yrs or less from inservice date/less than 60K mi
Lease Term Certified Yes
Point Inspection 140
Return/Exchange Program No
