Brand-new for 2009, the Jaguar XF midsize luxury sport sedan introduces a dramatic new look to the lineup. Sporty yet elegant, its five passenger interior is crisp, contemporary and extraordinarily luxurious, as shown in Jaguar XF photos. Equipped with rear-wheel drive, the Luxury and Premium Luxury trim levels are powered by a 4.2L V8 engine that cranks out 300 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque mated to a six-speed automatic that can be shifted manually with steering-wheel-mounted paddles. The Supercharged trim level is motivated by a supercharged version of the V8 that puts out 420 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. Jaguar states the non-supercharged trim levels can do 0-60 in 6.2 seconds, but the Supercharged version can achieve 0-60 in 5.1 seconds. EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings are 16 mpg city/25 mpg hwy for the base V8, while the Supercharged V8 gets 15/23 mpg. Standard safety items on all trim levels include antilock disc brakes, stability control, active front head restraints, front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags, while the Supercharged also has a blind spot monitor. In addition to a long list of amenities, the Jaguar FX features a seven-inch color touch screen that controls most cabin functions.
Jaguar's 2009 XF, with its sleek, coupe-like shape, sport-sedan performance, and stunning interior, competes very well with models such as the BMW 5-Series, Lexus GS 460, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. It also boasts higher-grade materials such as those available in more exclusive vehicles. And like other Jaguar models, the new XF also promises a uniquely British personality compared to other luxury cars.
The all-new XF replaces the S-Type in Jaguar's 2009 lineup and takes a dramatic new design direction with a sportier focus.
North American Jaguar XF models will get either a 300-horsepower, 4.2L V8 for 2009, or a supercharged 4.2L V8 worth 420 horsepower. With either engine, the XF has rapid acceleration on par with some of the fastest German sports sedans. According to Jaguar, the standard XF can accelerate to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds while the supercharged model can do it in just 5.1 seconds.
