After debuting last year, the 2009 Maserati GranTurismo, a four-passenger luxury performance coupe, introduces its S trim with a 4.7L V8 engine grinding out 433 hp and 360 lb-ft of torque, paired to a six-speed, twin-disc-clutch automatic transmission. The S also gets enhanced front brake discs, a more aggressive suspension, 20-inch wheels, unique side skirts, an integrated spoiler and extra bolstered seats. The S jumps from zero to 62 mph in 4.93 seconds and tops out at 183 mph. The Base GranTurismo is powered by a 4.2L V8 engine that generates 405 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque teamed to a six-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles. Standard safety features include ABS, traction control, an antiskid system, front side airbags and front curtain airbags. Maserati GranTurismo standard features include dual-zone climate control, adaptive bi-xenon headlights, a rear-obstacle detection system, a navigation system, 10-way adjustable front seats with memory and a power tilting/telescopic steering column.
As it comes in a vast number of combinations for exterior color, interior color, trim, and other accessories, the new GranTurismo promises more exclusivity than rivals like the BMW 6-series and the Jaguar XKR. The 2009 GranTurismo rides on a 115.9-inch wheelbase and is 192.3 inches in overall length. The GranTurismo's attractive shape was created by the Italian design house of Pininfarina and comes with a full back seat. Combined mileage is 15 mpg.
The GranTurismo for 2009 has an aluminum 4.7L V8 engine, which replaces the 2008 4.2L engine. Increased both in bore and stroke, the engine now produces 440 horsepower and 362 pound-feet of torque and can reach a top speed of 183 mph.
The 2009 Maserati GranTurismo is a very exclusive grand touring coupe that promises to be comfortable and luxurious while also providing impressive performance. Two trims are available: the base trim and the more popular S trim. The S trim is powered by a Ferrari-derived, 440-horsepower, 4.7L aluminum V8, along with a six-speed automatic transmission with optional paddle shifters. The base GranTurismo comes with a 4.2L engine with and manual transmission while the S trim comes with manual or automatic transmission. All trims are rear-wheel-drive.
