Starting at about a third of a million dollars--and likely costing much more with customization--the 2009 Rolls-Royce Phantom is only on the list of a very small crowd with both the means and the desire to flaunt it. With the EWB model, the Phantom is an excellent way to arrive in style--with a driver, of course.
For 2009, the Phantom gets several subtle design revisions, including a new front fascia. The grille is a bit more shallow than the previous model, featuring softer corners, and the front bumper also has smoother contours. The interior now employs individually adjustable reclining rear seats in place of last year's bench seat. Additional audio and video inputs have also been added in the rear of the sedan, and several switches have been repositioned. A new coupe model is available as well, sharing some design elements with the recently added Drophead Coupe and bringing the model total to four. The coupe features thin LED turn signals, large round headlamps, a gently raked grille, and an optional brushed steel hood and windshield surround.
The 2009 Phantom carries on Rolls-Royce's traditional, conservative shape but with thoroughly modern mechanical components co-developed with BMW.
