Though the interior has luxury appointments like leather seats and dual-zone climate control, the Terrain Response system and hill descent control make the LR4 more than capable of taking on the toughest trails.

What's new for 2010?

The all-new LR4 is Land Rover's replacement for the outgoing LR3. The name doesn't mean it's any bigger than the previous SUV from Land Rover -- as a matter of fact, it's a new vehicle, built on the same platform as the LR3, but with 1300 new parts. The LR4 is the fourth generation of Land Rover's mid-sized SUV, with a new direct-injected 5-liter V8 and a much cleaner center console. Exterior styling got a major freshening, with LED tail lights, a 2-bar grille and improved aerodynamics.

The LR4 comes in one very well-equipped trim level. The 5.0-liter engine has 375 hp on tap and 375 lb-ft of torque, with a ZF 6-speed transmission and full-time 4-wheel drive with locking center differential. This combo gets the LR4 from 0 to 60 mph in a surprising 7.7 seconds.
