Celebrating ten years on the market, the Acura MDX shows off 7-passenger utility with premium motoring. Automatic climate control, power tailgate, Bluetooth connectivity and a 7-speaker stereo system is standard on all 2011 MDX models for luxury comfort. The 2011 Acura MDX can be upgraded with a 10-speaker surround sound audio system as well as AcuraLink's Real-Time Traffic and Weather packages. Only available with a 300 horsepower, 3.7 liter V-6 engine, the 2011 Acura MDX is paired with Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system. Offering a remarkably sporty yet comfortable ride for a crossover vehicle, Nurburgring-tuned suspension and a 6-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel paddle shifters provides peak control to the driver. Adaptive cruise control, collision migration braking system and a rear-view camera are high-tech safety features optional on the 2011 MDX crossover.

Benefits of Driving a 2011 Acura MDX Sport Utility

This 7-seater MDX has a nice array of standard features even at the base level and includes a lengthy options list. There's plenty of room for a family and its gear--and the MDX includes 10 cupholders for just such duty. Fit and finish are excellent across the board including a very quiet cabin. Super Handling all-wheel drive is more for on-pavement performance than off-roading, but for those looking for a minivan or station wagon upgrade, the MDX performs admirably.

Model Review

The MDX carries a 3.7L V6 VTEC engine that achieves 300 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. This kind of performance does require 91-octane gasoline, but Acura makes up for it with no scheduled tune-ups for 100,000 miles. The MDX is the first Acura to have their new sequential SportShift automatic 6-speed transmission installed.

Safety Ratings What do the Safety Ratings mean? The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performs independent crash testing of new vehicles and then assigns them a score based on their performance. The overall crash test rating is based on how a vehicle performs in the following tests: Driver Crash Grade: Measures the chance of a serious injury to a crash test dummy that is placed in a driver's seat and driven into a fixed barrier at 35 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less chance of injury. Passenger Crash Grade: Similar to the driver crash grade, only now the focus is on the passenger. Rollover Resistance: Simulates an emergency lane change to measure the likelihood of a vehicle rolling over. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less risk of rollover. Side Impact Crash Test - Front: Focuses on the front side of a vehicle. It simulates crashes that can occur in intersections by striking a 3,015-pound weight against the side of a vehicle at 38.5 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 5 percent or less chance of injury. Side Impact Crash Test - Rear: Similar to the front side impact test only now the focus is on the rear passenger.
