Redesigned and updated inside and out in 2010, the 2011 BMW 7-series continues as the brand's largest, most luxurious and technologically advanced sedan. Available now with optional inline-six power, the 740i features a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo I6 with 315-hp and a 6-speed automatic. Fuel economy is expected to improve while performance is as good or better than previous V8 models. The standard 750i is equipped with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, making 400-hp and achieves up to 15/22 mpg city/hwy. Finally, the new 750i ActiveHybrid, which features a 4.4-liter v8 mild-hybrid set up good for 440-hp combined with an 8-speed automatic promising high 4-second 0-60 times and up to a 15% economy improvement. All trims are available with a short or long wheelbase and new for 2011, xDrive all-wheel drive. BMW has once again further enhanced the 7-series with interior and exterior refinements, powertrain upgrades and fuel economy while improving performance. All of these upgrades help the 7-series compete well with Mercedes S-Class and Audi A8 sedans.
The 7-series is BMW's flagship vehicle. The automaker manages to blend an impressive mix of technology and performance into a well-refined large-sedan chassis. While base prices for the 740i start at $70,150, this price buys one of the most comfortable and best-handling large-car vehicles available as well as impressive, leading-edge automotive technology. The 750 model gets a brand-new-for 2011 4.4L V8 engine capable of an impressive 400 horsepower. An even more powerful electric hybrid system, a system unique to BMW, is also available.
For 2011, the 7-Series adds a new entry-level 740 trim in addition to the returning 750 and 760 trims. All models are available as rear-wheel drive, while an xDrive all wheel drive trim is available for the 750. The 740s get a new engine, a 3.0 L TwinPower inline-6, and the 750 gets a new, powerful 4.4L V8. An ActiveHybrid 7-series is newly available for 2011.
Offerings for the 2011 7 Series include the 740, 750 and 760 trims. The 740 and 750 trims come in both short and long-wheelbase variants. The 760 trim comes only as a long-wheelbase model and the 750i can be configured with either a rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive or ActiveHybrid drivetrain.
