The 2011 Chevrolet Corvette is available in a coupe with removable roof panel or a convertible and feature a 430-hp 6.2-liter LS3 V8, 6-speed manual or 6-speed paddle-shift automatic, 0-60 times in the low 4-second range, and up to 26-mpg hwy. Upgrade to the Grand Sport and you receive a wide stance body, 6-piston brakes, a dry-sump oiling system, magnetic ride control and high 3-second 0-60 times. Next, the track-ready Z06 features a super light weight aluminum frame, carbon fiber body panels, light weight balsa wood floor, a 505-hp 7.0-liter LS7 V8, 6-speed manual, 198-mph track speed and 0-60 in 3.7-seconds. Opt for the fastest and most powerful Corvette ever, the Nrburgring tuned ZR1 features a supercharged 638-hp 6.2-liter LS9 V8, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, launch control, carbon fiber roof and body panels, 3.4-second 0-60 times and 205-mph track speeds. All trims are available with a head-up display, NAV, Bluetooth, OnStar, Bose audio, full leather interiors and a Corvette factory tour and museum delivery option. With power, performance, world-class handling and excellent value, Corvette competes well with Porsche 911, Ferrari 599 and Lamborghini Gallardo.
The Corvette comes with no less than 430 horsepower, even in base trim. And while the Corvette will never be mistaken for an economy car, it does get a surprising 26 mpg on the highway when equipped with the 6-speed manual transmission. The Corvette's true value comes in its race-tuned engine and handling, its sexy curves, and in its grins per mile. All this comes at an entry price of just under $50,000--a terrific performance bargain.
The Corvette gains a new model for 2011, the Z06 Carbon Limited Edition. The package slots between the regular Z06 and the ZR1 and includes upgraded packages and special appearance kit. Across the range, all manual transmissions get improved synchros for better shifting, while base models have new 5-spoke wheels, and Z06s get a retuned exhaust. Navigation systems now include a USB port and audio inputs. Supersonic Blue and Inferno Orange are new exterior colors.
With the addition of the Grand Sport model last year, and the new Z06 Carbon Limited Edition for 2011, there are plenty of Corvettes to choose from. The base coupe and convertible have a 6.2-liter, 430-hp V8 engine, known as the LS3, and a standard 6-speed manual transmission. A 6-speed paddle-shift automatic is optional. The paddle shifter includes a 'push and hold' function to make it easier to transition back to automatic after you've had your fun through the chicane.
