A character-based, mid-sized sedan, the 2011 Dodge Avenger comes in trim levels starting with Express as well as Mainstreet before upgrading to Heat, R/T and a well-appointed LUX model. Standard features on the 2011 Avenger Express models include air conditioning, remote entry and power windows. Optional on the Heat edition but standard on the Heat trim, a 6.5 inch touchscreen Media Center which includes a 30 gigabyte hard drive said to be capable of holding up to 6,700 audio tracks. Power for the 2011 Avenger Express, Mainstreet and Lux is supplied a 2.4 liter inline-4 World Engine worth 173 horsepower. The Heat and R/T models receive the 283 horsepower Pentastar V-6 for the first time as their standard engine. A four-speed automatic transmission is limited to the 2011 Dodge Avenger Express with an upgrade to 6 gears fitted to Mainstreet trims and higher. Adding a new sensation to the four-cylinder World Engine, a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is optional with the Avenger Lux model granting performance of a manual gearbox.

What's new for 2011?

For 2011, the Dodge Avenger sees a host of changes, including an exterior facelift, an all-new interior and a new V6 engine. On the outside, the Avenger has a new grille, revised LED taillights and new bumpers. Inside, the instrument cluster and dash are completely new and the seats have been redesigned with increased comfort in mind. Chrysler's 3.6L Pentastar V6 is also now part of the lineup, making 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with Autostick manual control.

Model Review

For 2011, the Avenger is available in four trim levels: Express, Mainstreet, Lux and R/T. The standard engine on all but the R/T is 2.4L 173-hp 4-cylinder engine, paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission on the Express and a 6-speed auto on the Mainstreet and Lux. Standard on the R/T and optional elsewhere is Chrysler's 3.6L Pentastar V6, which makes 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It comes only with the 6-speed automatic.
