With the announced arrival of the 2012 Ford Focus drawing focus away from the current model, 2011 vehicle wraps up 12 years of production in North America. Discontinuing the two-door coupe this year, the 2011 Ford Focus four-door sedan is left in S, SE, SES and SEL trim levels. Focus S models include standard features such as air conditioning, tilt steering wheel adjustment and 60/40 split rear seats. Power windows, Sirius satellite radio, leather seating along with the Ford SYNC communication and entertainment system are found as standard features on 2011 Focus models above the S trimmed sedan. All 2011 Ford Focus four-door sedan are powered by a four-cylinder, 2-liter Duratec engine mated with either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Fuel mileage for the 2011 Ford Focus is pegged at 24 city or 35 highway when combined with the 5-speed manual gearbox. Opting for the automatic-equipped 2011 Ford Focus only shaves a single highway mile. Equipped as a safe vehicle, 2011 Focus sedans are fitted with front, side and side curtain airbags, Anti-lock brakes, AdvanceTrac stability control as well as Ford's MyKey system.
The Ford Focus features good economy ratings, and when combined with its low base price, the Focus is one of the most frugal commuter vehicles available. Its 2008 redesign gave the Focus a real sense of refinement inside, and a smooth, quiet ride. SYNC, still a Ford exclusive, allows hands-free control over phones and music devices--well worth the option cost.
With a major redesign on track for the 2012 model year, the 2011 Focus remains largely unchanged. The lineup shrinks slightly, with the 2-door coupe now discontinued. SEL models are now available with an automatic transmission only, with no manual transmission available.
Ford's venerable Focus, sold in the U.S. in its current design since 2008, is available only as a 4-dr sedan for 2011. All trims come with Ford's 2.0L Duratec inline 4-cylinder engine that makes 140 horsepower. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard, but a 4-speed automatic is available. With the standard 5-speed, the Focus achieves EPA highway fuel economy ratings of 35 mpg highway.
