A completely new sports coupe for 2011, the Honda CR-Z borrows exterior design inspiration from the 1980s Honda CR-X in pitching the hybrid gasoline/electric drive system. Offered in a base and EX trim, remote entry control, cruise control and silver mesh sport seats is included on the entire 2011 Honda CR-Z lineup. Collectively known as Integrated Motor Assist, the 2011 CR-Z gasoline powerplant is a 1.5 liter i-VTEC inline-4 paired with a 10-kilowatt electric motor. Producing a total 122 horsepower together, the 2011 Honda Insight power generation is channeled through either a continuously variable transmission (CVT) or a 6-speed manual gearbox. With 37 miles per gallon through average city and highway driving obtainable when the 2011 CR-Z is fitted with the CVT, the more performance-oriented 6-speed transmission will achieve about 34 miles per gallon in combined travel. Electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes with brake assist and the safety of Honda's ACE (Advanced Compatibility Engineering) body structure is all in place as standard collision avoidance/prevention equipment on the 2011 Honda CR-Z.
The CR-Z represents a great deal in hybrid driving. It's a nice throwback to Honda's iconic CRX of the 1990s, while also employing the latest powertrain technology available. There currently isn't another car on the market that appeals to the same sensibilities as the CR-Z does, placing it in its own unique segment. For those looking for a high-value alternative to the VW Golf and Mini Cooper, the CR-Z is here.
The Honda CR-Z is an all-new model for 2011. It's based on the Insight platform, and Honda bills it as the 'World's first sport hybrid'. Styling is reminiscent of the much-loved CRX of the 1990s, but updated to Honda's current design language and beyond, with an aggressive nose and sweeping angles. Power comes from a 122-hp, 1.5-liter engine and Integrated Motor Assist (IMA), a DC brushless motor that adds another 13 hp. The CR-Z's pricing begins at $19,200.
The CR-Z is an all-new model in the Honda line-up for 2011, with a sporty look and fuel-sipping powertrain that are sure to please enthusiasts and eco-minded drivers alike.
