Redesigned in the 2009 model year, the 2011 Honda Fit is offered in the base and Fit Sport trim level featuring a more robust standard equipment package. Cruise control, remote keyless entry and the addition of a USB connection to the 160-watt stereo system is included on the 2011 Honda Fit. On the Fit Sport models, fog lights, chrome-tipped exhaust and a body-cover underbody kit adds some modest performance attitude despite no additional horsepower gains. Optional equipment on the 2011 Honda Fit Sport model is a satellite-linked navigation system which also includes a media card reader. An i-VTEC-equipped, 1.5 liter inline-4 engine powers every 2011 Honda Fit vehicle. Transmission choices range from a 5-speed manual gearbox while a 5-speed automatic transmission also available. The five-speed automatic is accompanied on 2011 Fit Sport models with steering wheel paddle shifters. With a five-speed transmission, the 2011 Honda Fit achieves fuel efficiency of 27 miles city and 33 highway for gallon of gasoline. While the manual Honda Fit provides on average 29 miles per gallon, fuel economy with the automatic gearbox is actually better providing 31 miles per gallon on the base trim. New for the 2011 Honda Fit is the inclusion of Vehicle Stability Assist as standard throughout the car lineup.
The Fit appeals to frugal shoppers who want the most space and versatility in a very small, easy-to-park size. Thanks to its tall, upright body style and clever Magic Seat setup, the Fit is arguably the most space-efficient vehicle in its class and is one of the few vehicles its size with a back seat roomy enough for most adults. Performance is a step above its class, with nimble handling, a perky engine and an available 5-speed automatic. Safety is also a strong in the Fit, which includes standard anti-lock brakes, vehicle stability assist and traction control across the lineup.
The Fit gets a few exterior refreshes, but carries over almost the same as 2010.
The Fit is very fun to drive, thanks to a 117-horsepower, 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that features Honda's i-VTEC variable valve timing system. The engine provides enough power even with the available automatic transmission, which has five speeds for better passing response and more relaxed highway cruising. A precise-shifting 5-speed manual is standard, but for those who want the best of both worlds, the Fit Sport model, when fitted with the automatic transmission, features paddle-shifters alongside the steering wheel.
