The 2011 Kia Soul is a departure for the Korean company best known for its inexpensive, well-warranteed cars. The Soul is aimed squarely at those who would buy a Scion. The Soul features funky styling, wild colors and a highly customizable interior and exterior. Even the trim names are fun. Base prices start at about $2,000 less than a comparable Scion.
Having been introduced in 2010, the changes to the 2011 model are minor. They include more limited availability of the manual transmission, no more 'Denim,' 'Ignition,' 'Shadow Dragon' or 'Ghost' special edition packages. Leather heated seats are now an optional on the Soul! and Sport trims.
The 2011 Kia Soul is a big step in a big direction for the Korean carmaker as it attempts to shed its bargain-car image in favor of something more mainstream. With base prices that start under $14k, the Soul is still a bargain, but it features edgy styling and a strong standard equipment list.
