Sporting a slightly updated exterior and improved interior, the 2011 Range Rover is a full-size luxury SUV with off-road capability. The Range Rover is available with two different engines; a standard 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine that produces 375 hp and an optional 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine that produces 510 hp. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed Command Shift automatic transmission that enables the driver to make manual sequential changes and enables the Range Rover to an EPA estimated 12 mpg city and 18 mpg highway. Features include 20-inch wheels, electronic sunroof, heated exterior mirror, command driving position, LCD virtual instrument panel, climate control, heated leather seats, front/rear park sensor with rear camera, 14-speaker sound system, rear screen entertainment system, touch-screen navigations system. Safety is comprised of front airbags, side curtain airbags, driver knee airbag, front seat pelvic/thorax airbags, and engine immobilizer. The Range Rover is backed by a 4-year/50,000-mile warranty.
The Range Rover has long been the king of luxury sport-utility vehicles, and for 2011 nothing' changed. The luxury off-roader provides some of the best performance in its class, on or off road. Luxury appointments set the Range Rover apart in a class of its own. Prices can easily exceed the $100k mark for the Supercharged models, but there's no other vehicle in this class that so blends top technology and refinement with a uniquely British--or Land Rover--look and feel.
For 2011, Land Rover's top-of-the-line Range Rover receives a new Hill Hold Assist for starting the vehicle out on a grade. Inside, optional reclining rear seats appear in HSE Lux and Supercharged models and a new harman/kardon 1200-watt, 19-speaker stereo system also appears on the options list.
The Range Rover comes powered by one of two direct-injection engines. HSE and HSE Lux models utilize a 375-horsepower, 5.0L V8, while the SC models get a 510-horsepower, 5.0L V8. Both engines are shared with Jaguar but tweaked for the Land Rover and are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and 4-wheel-drive system. Both engines feature variable camshaft timing that enhances performance, optimizes emissions and provides respectable fuel consumption. The HSE can get to 60 mph in just 7.2 seconds, while the SC can make the same dash in 5.9 seconds.
