Sold as a standard and extended wheelbase model with the option of all-wheel drive, the 2011 Lexus LS 460 is a large, handsomely equipped luxury sedan. Making use of a 4.6 liter V-8 engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the 2011 Lexus LS 460 storms with 380 horsepower. Accessing the interior compartment rich with leather upholstery and a variety of wood trim options, the 2011 Lexus LS 460 offers standard 16-way power driver's seat, an multi-information center console display with Bluetooth, moonroof and HomeLink transceiver. For 2011, the Lexus LS 460 AWD will be accompanied with coil suspension with the option of an air suspension package for an extra smooth ride. The extended Lexus LS 460L as well as the LS 460L AWD adds power rear sunshade, Intuitive Parking Assist and climate control front seats to the standard equipment lineup. Optional Exclusive Class Seat Package converts the rear passenger area to two individualized seats with a fixed console splitting down the center. Added to decrease fuel consumption during idling, Smart Stop Technology is incorporated with the 4.6 liter V-8 engine reducing power to help facilitate braking.
Although a little more conservative in look and feel than some of its leading rivals, the LS sedans still deliver inside, with some of the world's top technology features. The LS460--and especially the LS600h--serves as the luxury and technology flagship for the Lexus line. The LS 600h L especially, is a flagship luxury vehicle, with all the bells and whistles as well as top-notch safety-tech features, plus a prestige luxury feel that nearly matches ultra-luxury vehicles from Bentley and Rolls-Royce. From any LS model, performance is strong yet fuel economy is better than might be expected from such a large, heavy vehicle.
Both iPod connectivity and Bluetooth Audio streaming are now standard across the entire lineup of Lexus's flagship LS luxury sedans. The Sport Package that was introduced last year is now more extensive, and includes a sport-tuned air suspension, Brembo brakes, and 19-inch forged aluminum wheels. Newly standard is a so-called 'Smart Stop' system that will automatically reduce engine power when the brake pedal is applied.
The Lexus LS 460 and LS 460 L have a quiet, yet strong personality, with a 380-horsepower, 4.6-liter V8 and very smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard for this big luxury sedan, but all-wheel drive is available (the same 4.6L engine is rated at 357 hp when optioned with all-wheel drive). Then there's also the all-wheel-drive LS 600h L, which serves as the tech flagship for the Lexus lineup. It combines a 5.0-liter V8 engine with a strong electric-motor system and large-capacity battery pack. Both models are capable of getting to 60 mph in about five and a half seconds. Fuel economy is actually quite good for a large luxury car in either model: the LS 460 gets 16 mpg city, 24 highway, while the LS 600h gets 20/22.
