Updated for 2011 the Toyota Matrix is a five-door hatchback that offers two different engine options; a standard 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 132 hp/128 lb-ft of torque and a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 158 hp/162 lb-ft of torque. Drivers can choose between standard FWD or optional AWD and also have a variety of transmission choices including a 5-speed manual, 4-speed automatic and 5-speed automatic. Fuel mileage falls between an EPA estimated range of 21 mpg city and 31 mpg highway depending on engine, transmission and drivetrain selection. Features are comprised of 18-inch alloy wheels, daytime running lights, cruise control, fold-flat front passenger seat, remote keyless entry, 6-speaker sound system, fog lamps, audio steering wheel controls, hands-free phone capability and an optional DVD navigation system. The 2011 Toyota Matrix comes in two trim levels--the base and the S trim. For 2011, the 1.8L 4-cylinder engine is the only one available. It makes 132 horsepower by utilizing VVT-I variable valve timing system to improve engine response and fuel efficiency.
