The 2011 Toyota Sienna is all new for this year. Even though minivans may not be as hot as they once were, Toyota is betting that an even more sporty and upgraded third-generation Sienna will draw more crossover buyers. Sienna will be offered with a 2.7-liter 187 hp 4-cylinder with 26 mpg hwy. An optional 3.5-liter 266 hp V-6 with 24 mpg hwy can be combined with AWD and both powertrains receive a 6-speed automatic. With available lounge-style second row seats, widescreen rear entertainment screen, and best in class hwy mpg; combined with more aggressive and sporty optional SE trim make this Sienna the best yet from Toyota.

A new 4-cylinder engine option and a new pair of 6-speed automatic transmissions means the 2011 Sienna gets even better fuel economy than 2010--up to 26 mpg on the highway. The Sienna is the only minivan to offer all-wheel drive as an option as well as two seating configurations. Even the entry-level CE trim includes such comfort options such as keyless entry, three-zone air conditioning and 10 cup holders. Toyota has also engineered a clever 16' LCD monitor for 2011 that allows rear seat occupants to watch two different video programs simultaneously.

Model Review

The Sienna is a complete redesign for 2011. Two engines are available for this year: a 187-horse 4-cylinder and last year's 265-horsepower 3.5L V6. Each engine comes linked to a new-for-2011 6-speed automatic transmission. What the 4-cylinder lacks in power, it more than makes up for in fuel economy--it's capable of 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway--a class-leading achievement.

Safety Ratings What do the Safety Ratings mean? The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performs independent crash testing of new vehicles and then assigns them a score based on their performance. The overall crash test rating is based on how a vehicle performs in the following tests: Driver Crash Grade: Measures the chance of a serious injury to a crash test dummy that is placed in a driver's seat and driven into a fixed barrier at 35 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less chance of injury. Passenger Crash Grade: Similar to the driver crash grade, only now the focus is on the passenger. Rollover Resistance: Simulates an emergency lane change to measure the likelihood of a vehicle rolling over. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less risk of rollover. Side Impact Crash Test - Front: Focuses on the front side of a vehicle. It simulates crashes that can occur in intersections by striking a 3,015-pound weight against the side of a vehicle at 38.5 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 5 percent or less chance of injury. Side Impact Crash Test - Rear: Similar to the front side impact test only now the focus is on the rear passenger.
