A nameplate used since 1958 by Chevrolet, the four-door Impala sedan in 2012 exterior appearance will remain reminiscent to the past model years of the vehicle. The 2012 Chevrolet Impala comes in three trim levels, LS, LT and LTZ. On the base 2012 Chevrolet Impala LS, cruise control, StabiliTrak with all-speed traction control as well as air conditioning are standard. The 2012 Impala LT model�s standard features listing adds Bluetooth connectivity, remote vehicle starter and 17-inch machined aluminum wheels. On the more elite LTZ trim, the 2012 Chevrolet Impala provides an eight-speaker Bose audio system and heated, leather seating. Still powered by V-6s, the 3.5 and 3.9 liter powerplants will continue to be offered attached to a 4-speed automatic gearbox. New to the 2012 Chevrolet Impala will be the 3.6 liter LFX V-6 powerplant. The same engine added to the 2012 Camaro, the power plant in the Impala sedan is slated to produce 302 horsepower and 254 pounds-feet of torque. For the first time, a 6-speed automatic transmission will be included on the 2012 Chevrolet Impala when equipped with the new engine.

What's new for 2012?

For 2012, the Chevrolet Impala gets several notable updates. Last year's standard 3.5L V6 and optional 3.9L V6 have been replaced by a new direct-injected 3.6L V6, which uses variable valve timing and makes 302 horsepower. It's linked to a new 6-speed automatic transmission. In addition, a new grille has been added, along with new fog lamps, and dual exhaust tips are now standard across the line. The interior features new woodgrain trim and a new leather shift knob and new 16-inch wheels are available. Red Jewel Tintcoat has been dropped, but Black Granite Metallic and Crystal Red Tintcoat have been added (at extra cost). Luxury Edition Package has also been dropped from the line, as well as fog lamps on the LT model.
