With a major redesign expected for the mid-sized sedan on the horizon, the 2012 Ford Fusion exists as a solid family sedan against heavyweight competition in the vehicle segment. With only modest changes, trim levels for the Ford Fusion remains constant with an S, SE, SEL, Sport as well as the Hybrid version for the 2012 model year. Common standard features among the 2012 Fusion sedans are air conditioning, Easy Fuel Capless fuel filler and Ford MyKey. Eight-way power driver�s seat is an upgrade found on the Fusion SE trim while the SEL adds standard Ford SYNC and leather seats. Entry-level power on the S, SE and SEL models of the 2012 Fusion is derived from a 2.5 liter four-cylinder powerplant while a 240 horsepower 3-liter Flex Fuel V-6 engine is also available. A 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission choice is offered with the 4-cylinder engine of the 2012 Fusion. For 263 horsepower from a 3.5 liter Duratec V-6, drivers can opt for the 2012 Ford Fusion Sport trim that also includes 18-inch wheels and a sport-tuned suspension. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performs independent crash testing of new vehicles and then assigns them a score based on their performance. The overall crash test rating is based on how a vehicle performs in the following tests: Driver Crash Grade: Measures the chance of a serious injury to a crash test dummy that is placed in a driver's seat and driven into a fixed barrier at 35 MPH.
