The 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer is a compact five passenger vehicle available in sedan, hatchback and sport sedan trim levels. The standard Lancer/Lancer Sportback is powered by three different engines; a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, and a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo-charged engine that get 148 hp, 168 hp, and 237 hp. All the standard AWD Lancer/Lancer Sportback models come standard with a 5-speed manual transmission and get anywhere between an EPA estimated 17 mpg city and 33 mpg highway. For those who need a little more performance the Lancer Evolution is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo-charged/intercooled engine that produces 291 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. Options include 18-inch wheels, lightweight aluminum hood, navigation system, touring package, aluminum roof, HID headlamps, and Recaro� sport seats. Safety features include active stability control, anti-lock brake security, and seven airbags. The Lancer is backed by a 5-year/60,000-mile warranty.

Benefits of Driving a 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer Sedan

At the base level, the Lancer packs plenty of fun and safety features into a sub-$15,000 package. The Ralliart models, feature a mild turbocharged engine but enough performance to be surprise. Sportback models add increased functionality. The base Lancer returns great fuel economy, achieving 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.

The 5-seat Lancer comes in two distinct body styles, a few engines and a couple of trim levels for each in 2012. At the heart of the base Lancer DE and also the ES in either sedan or Sportback styles is a 2.0L 4-cylinder, which produces 152 hp and comes mated to a standard 5-speed manual transmission.

Focuses on the front side of a vehicle. It simulates crashes that can occur in intersections by striking a 3,015-pound weight against the side of a vehicle at 38.5 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 5 percent or less chance of injury.

Side Impact Crash Test - Rear:

Similar to the front side impact test only now the focus is on the rear passenger.
