Fresh off of last years impressive redesign, the 2012 Toyota Sienna is a seven passenger minivan available with two different engines; a standard 2.7-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 187 hp and an optional 3.5-liter V6 engine that yields 266 hp. Both engines are paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission and standard FWD (optional AWD is also available). Fuel mileage falls within an EPA estimated range of 18 mpg city to 25 mpg highway, depending on engine selection. Features include projector headlamps, dual power sliding doors, 19-inch wheels, three-zone climate control, backup camera, navigation system, and rear seat entertainment system. Safety is comprised of enhanced vehicle stability control, traction control system, anti-lock brake system, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist, smart stop technology, driver and front passenger advanced airbag system, side curtain airbags, front seat-mounted airbags, and tire pressure monitoring system. The Highlander Hybrid is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty.

Two engines are available this year: a 187-hp 4-cylinder and a 265-horsepower 3.5L V6. Each engine comes linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performs independent crash testing of new vehicles and then assigns them a score based on their performance. The overall crash test rating is based on how a vehicle performs in the following tests:

Driver Crash Grade:

Passenger Crash Grade:

Rollover Resistance:

Side Impact Crash Test - Front:

Focuses on the front side of a vehicle. It simulates crashes that can occur in intersections by striking a 3,015-pound weight against the side of a vehicle at 38.5 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 5 percent or less chance of injury.

Similar to the front side impact test only now the focus is on the rear passenger.
