The 2012 Volkswagen GTI is a FWD performance compact hatchback available in three-door and five-door trim levels. The GTI is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, for a 0-60 time of 6.8 seconds. Transmissions consists of a base 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed DSG� automatic transmission. Fuel mileage is an EPA estimated 21 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. A cross differential system and track tuned suspension enable the GTI to handle light and grip corners. For 2012, the Volkswagen GTI receives only minor changes. Those models, plus all GTIs with sunroof and navigation, also get LED daytime running lights. A new GTI with Convenience and Sunroof adds a power tilt/slide sunroof, leather-trimmed steering wheel and the Premiun VIII touchscreen stereo with in-dash CD changer.
