The extended wheelbase trim of the standard Escalade, the 2013 Cadillac Escalade ESV is a full-size luxury SUV with seating for seven. Under the hood drivers will find a 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 403 hp and 417 lb-ft of torque, for an impressive 0-60 time of 6.2 seconds. A 6-speed automatic transmission is mated to AWD to enable the Escalade to achieve an EPA estimated 13 mpg city and 18 mpg highway. Features include 22-inch wheels, HID headlights, power liftgate, power sunroof, remote start, DVD entertainment system, and premium audio. All the more impressive is the way the Escalade performs and handles considering its size and weight. The Hybrid version, though more expensive, doesn't give up any of the standard Escalade's luxury, handling, or ride quality, but does manage to get up to 50% better fuel economy.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performs independent crash testing of new vehicles and then assigns them a score based on their performance. The overall crash test rating is based on how a vehicle performs in the following tests: Driver Crash Grade: Measures the chance of a serious injury to a crash test dummy that is placed in a driver's seat and driven into a fixed barrier at 35 MPH. Side Impact Crash Test - Front: Focuses on the front side of a vehicle. It simulates crashes that can occur in intersections by striking a 3,015-pound weight against the side of a vehicle at 38.5 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 5 percent or less chance of injury.
