A full-size crossover with seating for seven, the 2013 Ford Flex is available with two different engines; a standard 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 262 hp/248 lb-ft of torque and an optional 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged direct-injected V6 engine that yields 355 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. FWD or optional AWD are both paired to 6-speed automatic transmissions. New modifications include a new front end design with FLEX lettering across the hood. Features include heated/cooled leather seats, Active Park Assist, Push-Button Start, SYNC with MyFord Touch, refrigerated second row console, multi-panel roof, and voice activated navigation. Safety is comprised of inflatable rear safety belts, adaptive cruise control with collision warning, BLIS (blind spot information system), anti-lock braking (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The Flex is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty.
Despite the Flex's bold look, it is first and foremost a people carrier. Great pains were taken with the interior to maximize its usability and make it comfortable for up to seven people. However the Flex stands out by being a crossover vehicle, rather than just a pure minivan. With more truck-like styling than its competitors and not a hubcap in sight, the Flex carries people in style.
Ford has given the Flex a major update for 2013. The Ford gets a new look front end, new interior and redesigned mechanicals. Plenty of new technology makes its way into the Flex with features such as Ford's Blind Spot Information System and adaptive cruise control. The Flex remains true to its mission as a stylish 7-passenger crossover with available all-wheel drive.
Exterior changes on the 2013 Flex are mostly concentrated on the nose of the vehicle. Overall, the new Front fascia is slightly more rounded to fit in better with the rest of the vehicle. The large oval 'Ford' badge has been removed and replaced with slick lettering spelling out F-L-E-X. The three chrome bars in the Flex's grill have been removed in favor of a less busy grill featuring only one bar. New headlights round out the changes at the front end. At the back the most noticeable change are the dual exhaust pipes poking out from the rear end.
