Now available with new exterior paint options, the 2013 GMC Yukon XL is an extended length full-size SUV available in standard and luxury Denali trim levels. All trims are powered by a 6.0-liter V8 engine that produces 352 hp and 382 lb-ft of torque, for a maximum towing capacity of 9,600 lbs. RWD (and optional 4WD) is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission that enables the Yukon to achieve an EPA estimated 10 mpg city and 16 mpg highway. Features include 20-inch wheels, power rear liftgate, leather seats, segment-exclusive power fold seats, touch-screen navigation, rear vision camera system, hands-free phone capabilities, and rear seat entertainment system. Safety is comprised of advanced airbags, side blind zone alert, StabiliTrak with proactive roll avoidance, OnStar, anti-lock braking system (ABS), and tire pressure monitoring. The Yukon is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty.
The Yukon and Yukon Hybrid are all sturdy full-size SUVs, oriented toward carrying heavy loads of passengers or cargo and towing large trailers, such as those used for boats or horses. Both available V8 engines provide strong performance, while the Yukon and its big brother, the Yukon XL, handle much better around town than their size might suggest. Ride quality and interior refinement are other high points. In addition, the Yukon Hybrid remains one of the most efficient full-size SUVs yet it is still fully capable of hauling heavy loads.
The GMC Yukon is virtually unchanged for 2013. A new color, Champagne Silver Metallic is available and the transmission has been given a slight recalibration to improve engine braking.
The Yukon and Yukon XL are GMC's full-size SUVs. The Yukon XL has a longer-wheelbase than the regular Yukon. Both Yukons are offered in SLE, SLT and Denali models, while the Hybrid comes in a single trim. Each of these models is available in either rear- or 4-wheel drive. Both Yukons offer a standard 320-horsepower, 5.3L V8 engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The heavy-duty Yukon XL 2500 also offers a 6.0L V8 that makes 352 hp and 382 lb-feet of torque. Yukon Denalis come with a 6.2L flex-fuel capable V8 that capable of 403 hp and 417 lb-feet of torque.
