Largely unchanged for 2013, the Honda Pilot is a mid-size SUV with seating for eight. The Pilot is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 250 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque. Both FWD and optional 4WD drivetrains are paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission to enable the Pilot to achieve an EPA estimated 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performs independent crash testing of new vehicles and then assigns them a score based on their performance. The overall crash test rating is based on how a vehicle performs in the following tests: Driver Crash Grade: Measures the chance of a serious injury to a crash test dummy that is placed in a driver's seat and driven into a fixed barrier at 35 MPH.
