Now limited to two trims, the 2013 Hyundai Genesis is a full-size luxury sedan, available with two different engines. The standard Genesis is powered by a 3.8-liter V6 engine that produces 333 hp and 291 lb-ft of torque. For added performance Hyundai offers the 5.0 R-SPEC trim, featuring a 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces a whopping 429 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. RWD is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission for an EPA estimated range of 16 mpg city to 29 mpg highway, depending on engine selection. Features include LED headlight accents, adaptive front light system, HID headlights, power heated side mirrors, tilt-and-slide glass sunroof, dual front automatic temperature controls, push button start, HD radio, auxiliary input jacks, 17 speaker sound system, touchscreen DVD/navigation system, rearview camera, and heated seats. Safety is comprised of dual front airbags, side-impact airbags, side-curtain airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), traction control (TCS), anti-lock braking (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), brake assist (BA), lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors. The Genesis is backed by a 5-year/60,000-mile warranty.
The Hyundai Genesis sedan takes aim at mid-priced luxury sedans. The V6 model comes with dual exhaust, dual-zone climate control and leather seats. The 5.0 R-spec s has a 17-speaker sound system, rain-sensing windshield wipers and proximity entry.
Hyundai has reconfigured several of the options and trim levels for the Genesis Sedan in 2013. The most significant change is the deletion of the 4.6 liter engine from the model range. The Genesis sedan now comes in two flavors, base 3.8L and 5.0 R-spec. Also new for 2013 is an optional 8-inch display that fits neatly into the dashboard. The improved display houses the optional navigation system and is available as part of the technology package.
The Hyundai Genesis is a large luxury sedan that aims to compete with Lexus and Mercedes. As such, it features a strong, competitive standard equipment list, but it's offered at a fraction of the price.
