Largely unchanged for 2013, the Kia Sorento is a mid-size crossover SUV available with two different engines; a standard 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 175 hp and 169 lb-ft of torque, and an optional 3.5-liter V6 engine that generates 276 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque. What's new for 2013?

Following a restyling and mechanical upgrade in 2012, the 2013 Kia Sorento receives only selective upgrades to various equipment and packaging. In the Sorento EX, leather seating is now standard, the base LX has an optional UVO voice-activated infotainment system, rearview camera, rear sonar, heated front seats and fog lamps. The LX V6 now comes with standard third-row seating. Planned for later in the model year is a new Convenience Package with 8-way power driver's seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter and a first aid kit.

Model Review

For 2013, the Sorento offers a 4-cylinder engine with Base, LX, SX and EX GDI trims, and is offered in two versions. The standard engine is a 175-horsepower 2.4L 4-cylinder, offered on the Base and LX models. A direct-injected 191-horsepower, 2.4L 4-cylinder engine is standard on the LX GDI and EX GDI, and paired only with a 6-speed automatic. The SX's standard (and LX- and EX-optional) 3.5L V6 makes 276 horsepower and brings especially strong acceleration with a smooth, refined character, while the 4-cylinder is quite economical, achieving EPA ratings of up to 21 mpg city, 27 mpg highway in all-wheel-drive configuration.

Side Impact Crash Test - Rear: Similar to the front side impact test only now the focus is on the rear passenger.
