Largely unchanged for the current model year, the 2013 Kia Sportage is a compact crossover available with FWD and 4WD. The Sportage is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 176 hp and 168 lb-ft of torque. For increased performance Kia offers an optional 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that yields 260 hp and 269 lb-ft torque. Model Review

The Sportage is offered in Base, LX, EX and SX models. All but the SX come with a 176-horsepower, 2.4L 4-cylinder engine. The SX comes with a direct-injected 2.0L 4-cylinder that makes a very competitive 260 horsepower. All Sportages are available in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and with either a 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed automatic.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performs independent crash testing of new vehicles and then assigns them a score based on their performance. The overall crash test rating is based on how a vehicle performs in the following tests: Driver Crash Grade: Measures the chance of a serious injury to a crash test dummy that is placed in a driver's seat and driven into a fixed barrier at 35 MPH. Side Impact Crash Test - Rear: Similar to the front side impact test only now the focus is on the rear passenger.
