The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is a compact luxury SUV available in four door and two door trim levels. The Evoque is powered by a 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 240 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission the Evoque manages an EPA estimated 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. Features include 20-inch wheels, HID headlights, panoramic sunroof, leather interior with brush aluminum accents, push-button start, climate control with air filtration, terrain response settings, electronic park brake, hill start assist, cruise control, electronic power assisted steering, 8-inch touch screen navigation, hands-free phone capabilities, and USB connectivity. Safety is comprised of an advanced airbags system, traction control (TCS), anti-lock braking (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD), and tire pressure monitoring (TPMS). The Evoque is backed by a 4-year/50,000-mile warranty.
Land Rover's Range Rover brand is known for building go-anywhere vehicles that provide a healthy amount of luxury and technology. Keeping with this philosophy, the company launched the Evoque, which is aimed at achieving better fuel economy. But this is no tarmac-only off-road imposter -- Haldex all-wheel drive is standard, with several electronic settings for a variety of conditions, and power comes from a 2.0L turbo inline 4-cylinder engine that makes 251 lb-ft of torque. Compared to the Audi Q5, Volvo XC60 and BMW X3, the Evoque is a strong contender with a look all its own.
The Range Rover Evoque gets a new entry level version for 2013. Price has been reduced by $2,000 at the cost of a fully leather interior and a panoramic sunroof. However this being a Range Rover the entry level Evoque Pure still features an aluminum sunroof and a synthetic suede interior.
The Evoque caters to a decidedly more eco-conscious customer base than traditional Range Rover buyers. Even so, the Evoque still possesses the chops to keep up when the road gets rough. Based on the LR2 platform, the Evoque comes in two different configurations: a 5-passenger wagon with either 2 or 4 doors. Styling is edgy and aggressive, but it's clearly a Range Rover from front to back, with characteristic styling touches at the headlamps, grille and taillamps.
