Now available in a Desert Runner trim level that features high performance shocks, fog lamps, and off-road 16-inch wheels, the 2013 Nissan Frontier is a mid-size pickup truck that is available in two-door and four-door cab trim levels. Engine choices are comprised of a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 152 hp/171 lb-ft of torque and a 4.0-liter V6 engine that produces 261 hp/281 lb-ft of torque, with a maximum towing capacity of 6,500 lbs. Transmissions include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, and 5-speed automatic. All trim levels come standard with 2WD but can be upgraded to 4WD. Fuel mileage falls within an EPA estimated 14 mpg city to 23 mpg highway, depending on engine selection. The PRO-4X is refreshed for the current model year. Safety is comprised of advanced airbag system, front active head restraints, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), and vehicle dynamic control (VDC), and tire pressure monitoring (TPMS). The Frontier is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty.

What's new for 2013?

For 2013, Nissan has made some subtle but important changes to the Frontier pickup truck. First and foremost, Nissan has lowered the price of King Cab and Crew Cab models in all trim levels. A new SV Value Truck Package adds comfort and convenience options previously found on the SV Premium Utility Package. A Desert Runner model on 4x2 King and Crew Cabs SV V6 models is also new. Nissan has made improvements in engine efficiency, as well as subtle aerodynamic enhancements, and the result is improved fuel economy on nearly every Frontier model. Minor equipment changes complete the updates to the 2013 Nissan Frontier.

The overall crash test rating is based on how a vehicle performs in the following tests: Driver Crash Grade: Measures the chance of a serious injury to a crash test dummy that is placed in a driver's seat and driven into a fixed barrier at 35 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less chance of injury. Passenger Crash Grade: Similar to the driver crash grade, only now the focus is on the passenger. Rollover Resistance: Simulates an emergency lane change to measure the likelihood of a vehicle rolling over. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less risk of rollover. Side Impact Crash Test - Front: Focuses on the front side of a vehicle. It simulates crashes that can occur in intersections by striking a 3,015-pound weight against the side of a vehicle at 38.5 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 5 percent or less chance of injury.
