The Tribeca is only offered in Limited trim for 2013. Accordingly, only one powertrain is available, a 256 horsepower 3.6L horizontally opposed 'boxer' 6-cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. With this combination the Subaru Tribeca is able to net 16 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway and unlike many other advanced 6-cylinder engines, the boxer in the Tribeca uses regular fuel, rather than premium.
