The Silverado range is always one of GM's biggest sellers. This means GM is always endeavoring to innovate and continue to improve the truck's design. As a result, the consumer wins -- whether hauling equipment to a job site, working a farm or towing a boat, the Silverado 2500 and 3500 are built for tough work, and they are some of the best-designed trucks available from any manufacturer. Made in either short- or long-bed form, with two- or 4-wheel drive, optional dual rear wheels and with a choice of several impressively powerful engines, the Silverado can be set up do just about anything asked of it. The 2500, even simply configured, is capable of towing a massive load and base prices start around $31,000.
For 2015, the Chevrolet Silverado HD range receives a full exterior and interior redesign. Exterior styling changes match those found on the Silverado 1500 and result in improved aerodynamics and air flow. Interiors have also been restyled to improve comfort, quietness, and storage space. Stabilitrak with Trailer Sway Control is now standard on all models, and new 6.5- and 8-foot beds include standard 'CornerStep' bumpers, EZ Lift and Lower tailgates and an LED bed light for nighttime work. In terms of performance, maximum payload has increased from 7,222 pounds to a best-in-class 7,374 pounds. Best-in-class conventional tow rating is now 19,600 pounds, up from 18,000, while maximum fifth-wheel tow rating is up from 22,500 to 23,200 pounds.
The 2500 and 3500 come with a 6.0L V8 engine standard, though a 6.6L turbo-diesel V8 is available. All Silverados come with a heavy-duty 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2500 and 3500 can be had as either a regular, extended or crew cab, with a standard or long bed, and with either a two- or 4-wheel-drive configuration. Dual rear wheels are available on some models. There are three trim levels
