2011 Buick LaCrosse Sedan

Summary

Provided by NADAguides.com

Sold in CX, CXL and CXS trim levels, the 2011 Buick LaCrosse sedan has become a successful launch for the premium General Motors brand offering quality as well as choice. Standard on the 2011 LaCrosse CX is air conditioning with air filtration system, a 7-speaker sound system with XM satellite radio along with power lock and windows. On the 2011 Buick LaCrosse CXL, an option between front-wheel and all-drive wheel is presented alongside an expanded list of standard features. Power, heated outside mirrors, dual-zone climate control and remote starter is added to the 2011 LaCrosse CXL. Existing as a major change, the 3-liter V-6 engine has been discontinued on the 2011 Buick LaCrosse promoting General Motor's 182 horsepower 2.4 liter Ecotec engine to the CX and CXL FWD models. On the CXL AWD and CXS trim versions of the 2011 Buick LaCrosse, a 3.6 liter V-6 generating 280 horsepower is employed. A luxury package including leather seating is added to the LaCrosse CXS as well as an 11-speaker Harman/pardon 384-watt sound system. Electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes and 6 airbags are included as standard safety features on all 2011 Buick LaCrosse models.

Benefits of Driving a 2011 Buick LaCrosse Sedan

Compared to Buicks of the past, the 2011 LaCrosse has both style and attitude, with a curvy, bold look and advanced interior design. Ride, handling and overall refinement are now up to world-class standard. And from behind the wheel, the LaCrosse now stands on the same ground, in terms of features and the driving experience, as many luxury-brand cars, yet it costs thousands less. CX models start well below $30,000, but CXS models loaded to the brim with tech features land above the $40k mark.

What's new for 2011?

Following a complete redesign in 2010, the LaCrosse returns for 2011 with few major changes. The mid-level 3.0 V6 has been dropped from the line in favor of a 2.4L inline four, which features direct injection. The range-topping 3.6L V6 returns unchanged. Paddle shifters have been added as standard on all models, and a new electric variable ratio power steering system is standard on CX and CXL front-wheel drive models. The CX gets a new tire repair kit as well.

Model Strengths

  • Attractive styling
  • attractive, well-designed interior
  • upscale ride and refinement
  • good value

Model Review

The LaCrosse is offered in three different trim levels--CX, CXL and CXS. The CX and CXL trims come with a new 182-horsepower, 2.4-liter Ecotec inline 4-cylinder engine, while the sportier, premium CXS and all-wheel drive versions of the CXL get a 280-hp, 3.6-liter V6.

Safety Ratings help

What do the Safety Ratings mean?

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performs independent crash testing of new vehicles and then assigns them a score based on their performance. The overall crash test rating is based on how a vehicle performs in the following tests:

Driver Crash Grade:

Measures the chance of a serious injury to a crash test dummy that is placed in a driver's seat and driven into a fixed barrier at 35 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less chance of injury.

Passenger Crash Grade:

Similar to the driver crash grade, only now the focus is on the passenger.

Rollover Resistance:

Simulates an emergency lane change to measure the likelihood of a vehicle rolling over. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less risk of rollover.

Side Impact Crash Test - Front:

Focuses on the front side of a vehicle. It simulates crashes that can occur in intersections by striking a 3,015-pound weight against the side of a vehicle at 38.5 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 5 percent or less chance of injury.

Side Impact Crash Test - Rear:

Similar to the front side impact test only now the focus is on the rear passenger.
