The 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class is a four-door luxury coupe available in CLS550 and CLS63 AMG trim levels. The CLS550 is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 engine that produces 383 hp and comes with a 7-speed automatic transmission equipped with paddle shifters. The AMG trim is powered by a 507 hp producing 6.3-liter V8 and comes with a 7-speed automatic transmission. Both trims have RWD configuration. Optional equipment for the CLS550 includes PARKTRONIC system, DISTRONIC adaptive cruise control, and a Premium Package that consists of bi-xenon headlights, headlamp washing system, keyless-go, heated/ventilated front seats, and iPod/MP3 media interface. Electronic Stability Program, Adaptive Damping System, Antilock Braking System, Brake Assist, and AIRMATIC Dual Control semi-active suspension comprise the safety features. CLS-Class models are covered by the Mercedes-Benz New Vehicle Warranty for 2 years/50,000 miles.

Mercedes-Benz is all about comfort, luxury, and refinement, and the 2011 CLS-Class executes all of these exceedingly well. The CLS-Class isn't a large vehicle, and the word 'sedan' doesn't seem to fit this smallish car with four doors, so Mercedes-Benz calls it a 4-door coupe. A computer-controlled 7-speed automatic transmission is mated to a large V8 in the CLS550, while the upper-level CLS63 will please performance enthusiasts with its very powerful 6.3L V8 engine that generates 507 horsepower. The brakes, suspension, wheels, and even steering wheel on the CLS63 were designed by AMG. The result is a very comfortable--and very capable--performance car.

Nobody executes the combination of performance and luxury like Mercedes-Benz, and the 2011 CLS-Class represents Mercedes-Benz' take on those two attributes in a mid-size sedan. The interior dimensions are on the small side--particularly in the rear seat--so Mercedes-Benz has elected to call it a '4-door coupe.'
