Carried over for the 2013 model year, the Cadillac CTS Sedan can be equipped with a standard 3.0-liter V6 engine (270 hp) or an optional 3.6-liter V6 engine (318 hp). A 6-speed automatic transmission, mated to standard RWD (AWD optional), enables the CTS Sedan to achieve an EPA estimated 18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway. Features include 19-inch wheels, power sunroof, premium audio with surround sound, rear camera display, DVD entertainment system, leather seats, navigation, and LED taillamps. Safety is comprised of blind zone alert, adaptive forward lighting, StabiliTrak, advanced airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The CTS Sedan is backed by a 4-year/50,000-mile warranty.

The Cadillac CTS is a family of mid-size premium sport sedans (or coupes, or wagons) that is somewhat closer in size to the BMW 5-Series and Audi A6 but competes more with the 3-Series and A4 families--as well as the Infiniti G37. Compared to most of these other models, the CTS has a different, uniquely American style inside and out that really sets it apart in the market. It's also very competitive with other luxury models when it comes to pricing and features. And while it doesn't yet offer Cadillac's CUE interface that's in the ATS sport sedan and XTS luxury sedan, it offers a very well-designed pop-up navigation system and top-notch premium audio.

What's new for 2013?

Changes to the Cadillac CTS lineup for 2013 are limited to a restyled grille and a newly standard adaptive remote vehicle starter. Three new exterior colors--Glacier Blue Metallic, Silver Coast Metallic and Summer Gold Metallic--are available.

Model Review

The Cadillac CTS family has grown in recent years and now includes three different body styles: Sedan, Coupe and Wagon. Across most of the lineup, the CTS is offered in Luxury, Performance and Premium guises, although the Coupe and Wagon are also offered in a base version and the Coupe skips the Luxury setup.

Safety Ratings What do the Safety Ratings mean? The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performs independent crash testing of new vehicles and then assigns them a score based on their performance. The overall crash test rating is based on how a vehicle performs in the following tests: Driver Crash Grade: Measures the chance of a serious injury to a crash test dummy that is placed in a driver's seat and driven into a fixed barrier at 35 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less chance of injury. Passenger Crash Grade: Similar to the driver crash grade, only now the focus is on the passenger. Rollover Resistance: Simulates an emergency lane change to measure the likelihood of a vehicle rolling over. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less risk of rollover. Side Impact Crash Test - Front: Focuses on the front side of a vehicle. It simulates crashes that can occur in intersections by striking a 3,015-pound weight against the side of a vehicle at 38.5 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 5 percent or less chance of injury. Side Impact Crash Test - Rear: Similar to the front side impact test only now the focus is on the rear passenger.
