Now available with launch control, the 2013 Volkswagen GLI is a FWD performance compact sedan with seating for five. The GLI is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. Transmission options consist of a standard 6-speed manual transmission and an optional 6-speed DSG� automatic transmission. Fuel mileage falls within an EPA estimated range of 22 mpg city to 33 mpg highway. A 4-corner independent suspension enables the GLI to handle light and grip corners. Features include bi-xenon headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, multi-function steering wheel, keyless access with push button start, leather seats, touch-screen navigation system, and hands-free phone capability. Safety is comprised electronic stability control (ESC), advanced airbags, anti-slip regulation, electronic brake distribution (EBD), electronic differential lock, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and hydraulic brake assist (HBA). The GLI is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty.

2013 Jetta GLI's receive a brand new launch control system on DSG equipped cars. Autobahn with Navigation-equipped Jettas also get rear backup cameras as well as bi-xenon headlights with LEDs for 2013.

Volkswagen's GLI was reintroduced in 2012, based on the all-new Jetta platform. Underneath the familiar Jetta body, the GLI has been tuned for performance, with a specialized sport suspension system as well as some tech items lifted from the popular GTI. Volkswagen says the GLI is the most differentiated Jetta model ever made by the company, offering aggressive performance in an easy-to-live-with package.
