Now available in an E400 hybrid trim level, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a luxury car available in sedan, coupe, soft-top convertible, and wagon trim levels. The E350 trims are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine (302 hp) is offered with a 268 hp producing V6 engine while the E550 trims get an upgraded 4.6-liter V8 engine (402 hp). Sedans and coupes are RWD but the sedans are also available with 4MATIC AWD. For those drivers who prefer diesel, the E350 BlueTEC RWD sedan offers a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 engine that produces 210 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. All trims are available with a 7-speed automatic transmission enabling duel mileage to fall within an EPA estimated range of 15 mpg city to 32 mpg highway, depending on model selection. For those who crave performance E63 AMG sedan/wagon are also offered boasting a 5.5-liter bi-turbo V8, that produces 518 hp, equipped with an AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7-speed manual transmission. Features include navigation, premium sound, and hands-free phone capabilities. Safety comes in the form of 11-way airbag protection, blind-spot assist, anti-lock braking (ABS), electronic stability program, and active body control. The E-Class is backed by a 4-year/50,000 miles.
The E-Class is Mercedes-Benz mid-sized luxury car, competing with the BMW 5-series and the Audi A6. Being a true luxury car, the E-Class doesn't make many compromises. Performance, fuel efficiency and luxury are all high priorities for all E-Class trims.
Mercedes-Benz has updated the E-Class with the addition of the fuel efficient E400 Hybrid. Mercedes-Benz predicts 24 mpg city and 31 mpg highway for E-Class cars equipped with this efficient drivetrain. Despite this economy the E400 Hybrid should still be able to get to 60 mph in fewer than 7 seconds, making it reasonably quick as well. Other changes for 2013 are minor, but include the addition of electronic power steering and heated front seats as standard across the entire model range.
The base E-Class 350s get a direct-injected 3.5L V6 engine rated at 302 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque standard. The E550 trims come with a direct-injected 4.6L twin-turbo V8 engine rated at 402 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. All engines are mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. The 210-horsepower BlueTEC 3.0L diesel V6 returns this year, again available in all 50 states in rear-wheel drive sedan form. The E400 Hybrid is also rear-wheel drive and makes 329 horsepower from its V6 and electric motor combination.
