Introduced for the 2006 model year, the Honda Ridgeline is based on the brand's Pilot sport utility vehicle as an alternative to the medium crew cab trucks. A more urbanized pickup truck that is still capable of 5,000 pound towing and up to 1,546 pounds of payload hauling, trim levels range from RT, RTS to RTL. Included standard on 2011 Ridgeline RT models and up is air conditioning, cruise control, three 12-volt power outlets and adjustable steering column. The top-line RTL version of the 2011 Honda Ridgeline truck finds HomeLink remote, leather trim, and Bluetooth HandsFreeLink among its standard features. Equipped with a 3.5 liter i-VTEC engine producing 250 horsepower and 247 pound feet of torque, the 2011 Honda Ridgeline is channels more through a 5-speed automatic transmission. Full-time four-wheel drive is fitted for all 2011 Ridgeline trucks supported by standard anti-lock brakes with brake assist and electronic stability control.
The Honda Ridgeline is in a class of its own--it is the only truck in the full-size segment to use a closed-box frame and unit-body construction. It utilizes independent front and rear suspension, but features a relatively short bed and a car-like driving experience. The Honda pickup is a bit more expensive than the Ford and Dodge, with a starting price just under $29,000, and only one engine option. The Ridgeline excels in 5-passenger comfort as well as decidedly better handling than many of its full-size rivals
The Honda Ridgeline remains relatively unchanged for 2011.
The Ridgeline comes in three trim levels--RT, RTS and RTL--and they are all powered by a 3.5-liter, 250-hp V6 engine that makes 247 lb-ft of torque and utilizes a drive-by-wire electric throttle. The engine is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission in all three models, and they all have a locking rear differential. The Ridgeline features a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds and a 1,500-pound payload capacity.
