Hiding The SUVs

We are mystified by how hard General Motors has tried to keep its new Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon under wraps. This spy has been pushed, shoved and nearly ran off the road by GM engineers attempting to prevent these vehicles from being photographed. Frankly, we are not sure why. According to our observations, plus reports from insiders, GM's new full-size sport-utility vehicles are essentially sport-utility bodies mated to the company's full-size pick-up chassis, with styling almost identical to the current Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. Consequently, expect the basic shape and front sheetmetal to be borrowed from GM's new pickups -- as well as the powertrains. About the same time as GM's new brute-utes debut, Ford will begin selling a new full-size sport-utility vehicle, possibly called the Excursion. Not long after, Dodge is expected to bring a Ram based full-size sport-utility vehicle to market, as well.
