Redesigned in 2006, the luxury mid-size SUV M-Class remains relatively unchanged for 2007. In addition to the ML350, that features a 3.5liter V6 engine that produces 268HP, and the ML500 that offers the 5.0Liter V8 that puts out 302HP there is now a diesel ML320CDI which pumps out 398 lb-ft of torque and improved fuel-economy. At the top of the range is the ML63AMG, with a 6.2Liter V8 that boost the power to 503HP. All models come standard with the seven-speed automatic transmission linked to the 4-Matic all-wheel-drive system.

What's new for 2007?

The Mercedes-Benz M-Class has been completely redesigned for 2007. Besides the new body styling and underpinnings, there are two new engine choices. A 6.3L AMG V8 produces 503 horsepower, while a 3.0L V6 diesel engine also debuts. With an EPA rating of 21 mpg in the city and 27 on the highway, the diesel may be the new fuel economy champ among its peers.

Model Review

Mercedes-Benz redesigned their M-Class for 2007 M-Class, making it 5.9 inches longer and 2.8 inches wider than the 2006 model. It continues to employ a unibody chassis, and still retains the large three-pointed star in the grille and the reverse sloped C pillar from the previous generation. larger wheel flares, a more steeply raked windshield, and a more defined shoulder line are some of the visual changes from the previous body style.

Safety Ratings What do the Safety Ratings mean? The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performs independent crash testing of new vehicles and then assigns them a score based on their performance. The overall crash test rating is based on how a vehicle performs in the following tests: Driver Crash Grade: Measures the chance of a serious injury to a crash test dummy that is placed in a driver's seat and driven into a fixed barrier at 35 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less chance of injury. Passenger Crash Grade: Similar to the driver crash grade, only now the focus is on the passenger. Rollover Resistance: Simulates an emergency lane change to measure the likelihood of a vehicle rolling over. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less risk of rollover. Side Impact Crash Test - Front: Focuses on the front side of a vehicle. It simulates crashes that can occur in intersections by striking a 3,015-pound weight against the side of a vehicle at 38.5 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 5 percent or less chance of injury. Side Impact Crash Test - Rear: Similar to the front side impact test only now the focus is on the rear passenger.
