A carry-over from 2006, the Mazda6 is a five-passenger family car offered in four, five-door and sport wagon variations. The Mazda6 comes available in three trim levels � the Sport, the Touring and the GT. It comes standard with a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 156 horsepower with a five-speed manual transmission (with an optional five-speed automatic), or a 3.0-liter V6 that puts out 212 horsepower offered with a six-speed manual transmission or the automatic.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performs independent crash testing of new vehicles and then assigns them a score based on their performance. The overall crash test rating is based on how a vehicle performs in the following tests: Driver Crash Grade: Measures the chance of a serious injury to a crash test dummy that is placed in a driver's seat and driven into a fixed barrier at 35 MPH.
