A carry-over from 2006, the Impreza is a four-door five-passenger sedan that�s offered in the base 2.5, WRX and Limited trim levels. The base model offers a 2.5-liter H4 that produces 173 horsepower, with the WRX and Limited versions featuring a turbocharged 2.5-liter H4 that boosts the output to 230. There is also the STI model that cranks out 300HP, and is based on the WRC race car.
Subaru claims that the base 2.5 i sedan and sport wagon are the most affordable all-wheel-drive sport-compacts in the U.S. market, and the Impreza models offer some of the best all-weather handling in its class. Up the range, the sporty WRX offers an engaging mix of performance and practicality, while the top-of-the-range STI is a serious rival for some of the world's top sports cars.
The Subaru Impreza, which will be completely redesigned for 2008, goes into 2007 with some minor equipment revisions. All models get a new soft-grip steering wheel design, while Special Edition models now include more equipment. On most models the ashtray is replaced with an auxiliary audio input, Sirius satellite radio is now offered, and on models equipped with the available CD changer, audio data in MP3 or WMA formats can now be played.
Subaru's compact Impreza sedans and hatchback wagons are available in a wide range of models for 2007, including a base model, the rugged Outback Sport wagon, the sporty WRX, and the very high-performance STI. Impreza 2.5 i and Outback Sport models come with a 173-horsepower, 2.5L flat four-cylinder engine with i-Active Valve Lift. WRX models step up to a 224-horsepower, 2.5L turbocharged flat-four with Active Valve Control, and top STI models gets a 293-horsewpower, 2.5L version of the WRX's turbocharged engine.
