Mercury expands its Milan lineup with an all-new hybrid power plant. This is in addition to its two gas powered options: a 3.0L V6 and a 2.5L 4-cylinder that offers better highway mileage than the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. The 2010 Mercury Milan also features an enhanced body style which gives the car a wider, sportier look. The interior has been re-designed with a more contemporary, technical look and seats that feature increased lateral support. The biggest change in 2010, however, is the all-new Mercury Milan Hybrid's capability of operating at up to 47 mph in full electric mode, nearly twice as fast as some competitors. The operating range of the hybrid Milan is expected to be more than 700 miles per tank with city driving. The car will come with a new 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine producing 155 hp and 136 lb-ft of torque. New technologies available on the 2010 Milan include the Blind Spot Information System (BLISTM) with Cross Traffic Alert, SYNC, and voice-activated navigation.

Safety Ratings What do the Safety Ratings mean? The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performs independent crash testing of new vehicles and then assigns them a score based on their performance. The overall crash test rating is based on how a vehicle performs in the following tests: Driver Crash Grade: Measures the chance of a serious injury to a crash test dummy that is placed in a driver's seat and driven into a fixed barrier at 35 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less chance of injury. Passenger Crash Grade: Similar to the driver crash grade, only now the focus is on the passenger. Rollover Resistance: Simulates an emergency lane change to measure the likelihood of a vehicle rolling over. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less risk of rollover. Side Impact Crash Test - Front: Focuses on the front side of a vehicle. It simulates crashes that can occur in intersections by striking a 3,015-pound weight against the side of a vehicle at 38.5 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 5 percent or less chance of injury. Side Impact Crash Test - Rear: Similar to the front side impact test only now the focus is on the rear passenger.
