With a new look and a new engine the 2009 BMW 7-series, a four-door luxury sedan, is now in its 5th generation and continues to stretch the ideas of what a luxury sedan should be. Available in two trims, the 750i and the 750Li which has a 5.5-in longer wheelbase, both of which are powered by the 4.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 which produces 400 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. The only transmission available is a six-speed automatic. The menu screen has increased in size and is powered by the second generation of the iDrive system. New 2009 BMW 7-Series options include night vision, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, DVD entertainment, and massaging rear seats. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front side airbags, knee airbags, and curtain side airbags. Fuel Economy is yet to be determined but the turbochargers should help improve the EPA MPG numbers over previous models.
The BMW 750i and 750iL are two of the most luxurious vehicles currently available, designed for fast, smooth performance while constantly redefining driving elegance. The 7 Series cars are the height of quality and beauty in the automotive arena, and are more affordable and more readily available than other premium models that can cost more than six figures.
Only the 750i and the 750iL will be available for 2009's 5th generation 7 Series. The only engine available will be a direct-injection 4.4L Twin Turbo, which first appeared in the X6. The engine produces 400 horsepower, which is 40 more than previous generations, and 450 lb/ft of torque, an increase of 90. Only in a six-speed automatic transmission for 2009. Top speed is 155 miles per hour, made possible in part to more aluminum in the body.
BMW redesigned the 750i and the 750iL based on buyer feedback. This resulted in a whole new 7-Series for 2009. The exterior design focuses on a sharp, full-length front to back crease to give the cars a stretched look. The kidney-shaped grill is set further forward than other BMW models for prominence. Gone is the bulbous trunk as well as other controversial styling from previous models. The interior has improved ergonomics for a more comfortable ride
