All new this year, the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze is set to go toe-to-toe with segment leaders Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic. Boasting a high level of equipment including 10-standard airbags, the Cruze is offered in LS, LT and LTZ trim levels and can be had with a 1.8-liter 138-hp DOHC I4, 6-speed manual or automatic and up to 26/36 mpg city/hwy. Optional is a 1.4-liter turbo I4 and coming late 2010 an ECO trim level expected to deliver up to 40-mpg hwy. The 5-seat Cruze offers passengers generous room in a high quality interior. Notable features include Bluetooth, USB connectivity, OnStar with turn-by-turn NAV, remote start, premium audio and an RS handling package. With a 5-year/100,000 mile power train warranty, the Cruze offers outstanding value in the compact car segment.
The compact sedan segment is a crowded one, and Chevrolet is upping its game with the 2011 Cruze. Styling is in line with the company's other offerings, which means the Cruze already has a familiar feel to it. Cabin noise is mostly absent, thanks to triple-seal doors, a laminated windshield, and hydraulic engine mounts. And with an available 138-hp turbocharged engine with direct injection, it's possible to achieve excellent fuel economy with a sporty feel. Riding on a proven global platform, the Cruze takes the fight directly to the competition-- the Honda Civic, Hyundai Accent, Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sentra.
The Chevrolet Cruze is all-new for 2011, and is now the resident compact sedan in the Chevy lineup, replacing the Cobalt. Four distinct trim levels are offered, and power comes from one of two 4-cylinder engines--a normally aspirated 1.8-liter or a direct-injection turbocharged 1.4-liter. A 6-speed manual and automatic transmission are offered, as are a host of interior amenities and safety features. Chevy estimates the turbo will return 40mpg on the highway, and MSRP ranges from $16,275 to $21,975.
The all-new 2011 Cruze is the latest compact sedan from Chevrolet. It replaces the Cobalt, but is a completely different animal.
