Available in SLE, SLT and Denali trim levels, the 2011 GMC Yukon XL allows up to 9 passengers to ride in complete comfort while trekking considerable cargo. A 5.3 liter V-8 with E85 compatibility comes with a steady 320 horsepower and 335 pounds-feet of torque. Deriving fuel economy of 15 miles per gallon city or 21 miles per gallon highway with unleaded gasoline, the 5.3 liter V-8 powered 2011 GMC Yukon XL is less fuel efficient if E85 fuel is being burned. A more potent 6-liter V-8 engine can also be fitted into the 2011 GMC Yukon XL for 352 horsepower, but fuel economy drops to 10 miles per gallon for city driving. The larger V-8 does allow payloads of up to 2,454 pounds to be hauled inside of the large sport utility vehicle. Tri-zone air conditioning, a Bose 9-speaker stereo system, and Bluetooth Connectivity is found on all 2011 GMC Yukon XL models. While the 2011 Yukon XL SLE features an audible back-up indicator as standard with a back-up camera extra, the SLT trim model adds the camera system standard.
The Yukon and Yukon Hybrid are all sturdy full-size SUVs, oriented toward carrying heavy loads of passengers or cargo and towing large trailers, such as those used for boats or horses. Both available V8 engines provide strong performance, while the Yukon and its big brother, the Yukon XL handle much better--even around town--than their mammoth size might suggest. Ride quality and interior refinement are other high points. In addition, the Yukon Hybrid remains one of the most efficient full-size SUVs yet fully capable of heavy loads and tow duty.
GMC Yukon Hybrid models for 2011 get the latest Gen 9.0 version of OnStar for better voice recognition. Head restraints for the second row have been revised.
The Yukon and Yukon XL are GMC's full-size SUVs. The Yukon XL has a longer-wheelbase than the regular Yukon bigger brother. Both Yukons are offered in SLE, SLT and Denali models, while the Hybrid comes in a single trim. Each of these models is available with a choice of rear- or 4-wheel drive. The Yukons both offer a standard 320-horsepower, 5.3-liter V8 engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The heavy-duty Yukon XL 2500 also offers a 6.0L V8 that makes 352 hp and 382 lb-feet of torque. Yukon Denalis come with a 6.2L flex-fuel capable V8 that can make 403 hp and 417 lb-feet of torque.
