Built to high European quality, the subcompact Ford Focus enters the North American market as a completely new vehicle for the 2012 model year. Due in dealerships by early 2011, the new Ford Focus presence as either a sedan or a hatchback is joins trim levels choices ranging between the S, SL, SEL and an upscale Titanium level. High-tech features to be expected on the 2012 Ford Focus includes Active Parking Assist, Ford SYNC, ambient lighting and rear view camera. A 2-liter, four-cylinder engine using direct injection and variable camshaft technology to deliver up to 40 miles per gallon highway while producing 155 horsepower. Power from the 2012 Ford Focus engine is handled through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission merging the ease of an automatic with the efficiency of a manual gearbox. Safety features found standard on all 2012 Ford Focus models includes Ford's AdvanceTrac stability control, a high-strength steel body structure as well as front and side airbags.
The new Ford Focus is a small car that offers a number of features otherwise seen in larger or more luxurious vehicles. For instance, the Focus is also the first vehicle in its class to offer Active Park Assist, which can actually guide and steer the car into a parking space if the driver moderates speed with the brake. It's also the first small car to offer Ford's new MyFord Touch system, which relies on a sophisticated touch-screen system and has advanced voice-command features and can even provide wifi for the car and the area surrounding.
The Ford Focus is completely new for 2012, with an all-new design, more fuel-efficient powertrains, and improved handling, along with a host of new technology features. Ford is recognizing that with the possibility of higher fuel prices, small, more fuel-efficient cars will be more appealing, so it's added a top Titanium model that has many of the top-tech features from Ford's larger, more expensive models. A limited-availability battery-only Focus can be had in some markets for 2012.
The new Focus is offered in 4-door sedan or 5-door hatchback forms, in S, SE, SEL and Titanium trims-although hatchbacks aren't offered in base S form. S and SE models can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or 6-speed PowerShift dual-clutch automatic transmission. SEL and Titanium models only come with the automatic.
