Choices of the base, Performance and Premium Package trim levels will remain available with the 2012 Cadillac CTS Sedan. Cruise control, OnStar, remote keyless entry and electronic stability control is equipped on all CTS Sedan models. Bluetooth has also been added to the standard features list of every 2012 Cadillac CTS Sedan. Performance and Premium models of the 2012 CTS upgrade the car with universal home remote, heated front seats with memory, and rearview camera. In addition, the 2012 model year introduces a CTS Sedan Touring Package that will add a multitude of exterior and interior dress-up including chrome door handles, metal pedals, dark Sapele wood trim and grille given a darkened finish. Offering two all-aluminum, direct-injected engines the base CTS Sedan is standardly equipped with a 270 horsepower, 3-liter V-6 engine. New for 2012, a newly redesigned 3.6 liter V-6 moves the Cadillac CTS Sedan with 318 horsepower. Available in rear and all-wheel drive models, the 2012 CTS Sedan has 6-speed manual as well as automatic transmission options.

Model Review

The Cadillac CTS is offered in three body styles: sedan, sport wagon and coupe. For the sedan and wagon, two trim levels are available, starting with the base 3.0, which features a 270-hp 3.0L V6 and a standard 6-speed manual or optional 6-speed automatic transmission. The CTS 3.6 is powered by a 318-hp 3.6L V6 and a standard 6-speed automatic. The coupe gets the 3.6, and all three body styles can be ordered with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) performs independent crash testing of new vehicles and then assigns them a score based on their performance. The overall crash test rating is based on how a vehicle performs in the following tests:

Driver Crash Grade:

Measures the chance of a serious injury to a crash test dummy that is placed in a driver's seat and driven into a fixed barrier at 35 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less chance of injury.

Passenger Crash Grade:

Similar to the driver crash grade, only now the focus is on the passenger.

Rollover Resistance:

Simulates an emergency lane change to measure the likelihood of a vehicle rolling over. A five-star rating means there is 10 percent or less risk of rollover.

Side Impact Crash Test - Front:

Focuses on the front side of a vehicle. It simulates crashes that can occur in intersections by striking a 3,015-pound weight against the side of a vehicle at 38.5 MPH. A five-star rating means there is 5 percent or less chance of injury.

Side Impact Crash Test - Rear:

Similar to the front side impact test only now the focus is on the rear passenger.
